What do you enjoy about being a student caller?
It’s so nice to build connections and receive advice from people with similar interests. That’s the most exciting part for me. Once, I talked to a movie director for a really big film. If I were into the film industry, this could have EASILY been an internship opportunity.
What has surprised you as a student ambassador?
I was surprised by how engaged the alumni were. A few people offered to help me build my resume. That’s a really kind gesture to me.
Why is alumni support important for the advancement of the University?
First and foremost, it’s so important to our students. The alumni gifts directly impact scholarships, facility upgrades, research programs, and the quality of our degrees. Those investments can really make or break a university.
Why should alumni and friends answer their phones when they receive a call or text from UL Lafayette?
We have a ton of events throughout the school year. So it’s important to stay informed about the University. Plus, you don’t want to miss the opportunity to help the University and current students.
How have your conversations with alumni and friends changed your outlook on your own college experience?
What I’ve learned from most of the alumni is that it’s okay to get it wrong; no one has it 100% figured out at this stage. So it puts me at ease knowing that everything will be okay. I feel like I can really be present and enjoy my college experience.
