UL Lafayette’s Giving Day, a University-wide day of giving, returns Thursday, March 9.

During a 24-hour period, alumni, friends, faculty, staff, parents and students will come together, both online and in person, to support the Ragin’ Cajuns community through giving. Gifts of all sizes are welcome and can be allocated to the department or program of the donor’s choosing.

This year’s theme is Stronger Together. According to Rebecca Doucet, associate vice president for Development, when many supporters come together, they can impact academics, arts, athletics, programs and scholarships as much as a single major donation.

“Giving Day is all about participation,” Doucet said. “Each contribution works to expand possibilities and ensure the future success of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette – a goal best achieved when we commit to being ‘Stronger Together.’”

There are many ways to participate in Giving Day:

  • Make a gift of any amount at givingday.louisiana.edu to support a favorite school or program.
  • Take advantage of matching gift challenges to maximize your gift’s impact.
  • Amplify the University’s Giving Day messages on UL Lafayette’s social media accounts or create your own using #RajunCajunsGive.

Students, faculty and staff can also participate in Giving Day-themed activities in the Quad on UL Lafayette’s campus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The celebration will feature food and activities that showcase the importance of giving back.

“During the past few years, we have had to scale back the in-person components of Giving Day because of the pandemic,” Doucet said. “Now, we are looking forward to connecting with our faculty, staff and students who want to learn about the important role philanthropy plays at UL Lafayette and how they can be part of it.”

Gifts made during Giving Day also benefit Together: The Campaign for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the University’s largest comprehensive fundraising campaign. To date, the Together campaign has raised 71 percent of its $500 million goal.
