Give to KRVS - Radio Acadie

KRVS is the National Public Radio affiliate serving Southwest Louisiana since 1963 with daily local programs that reflect the culture of this singular region and sound like home. We connect the world with Acadiana, and Acadiana with the world.

We believe that culture is not a mere commodity to be manufactured, bought and sold, but an authentic and evolving expression of the heritage and spirit of its place of origin. As a public media organization, we proudly amplify what most commercial radio stations do not: rich, diverse genres of music beyond the current hits and trends, thoughtful, in-depth discussion of regional issues, and factual news and information.

We offer daily education about what distinguishes the culture of this place — including but not limited to its languages, history, folkways and creative endeavors — and why those elements matter. We are committed to functioning, uniquely among media outlets, as a source of information and context about spoken and sung Louisiana French and Creole. This fosters general appreciation for the linguistic heritage of KRVS’ home territory, and the French immersion experience of increasing numbers of K-12 students.

We prioritize service with routine promotion of regional artists and non-profit organizations, multiple regularly scheduled public affairs programs, special live broadcasts from Louisiana cultural and news events and robust student and volunteer involvement.
