Kathryn Boone headshot

Kathryn Alyse Boone is a freshman majoring in Kinesiology from Sunset, Louisiana. Her interest in Kinesiology began her junior year of high school after she took multiple courses on sports medicine and basic human nutrition.

Kathryn has always held herself to a high standard and has maintained great grades throughout her education. She aspires to become a physician assistant and later work under the field of Dermatology. Because of her love for nutrition and skincare, she wants to help others maintain a healthy lifestyle and help them feel confident. Kathryn cannot wait to start her college experience while utilizing her knowledge and skill to the best of her ability.

When she is not busy with her academic studies, Kathryn enjoys reading, making loved ones smile, and listening to music with friends. She has always loved making her friends and family laugh because she believes it welcomes a sense of comfort.

What do you enjoy about being a student caller?

It is so exciting to make friends and connections with people with similar interests. Also, it is nice to receive advice from experienced alumni. Being a student caller makes me feel like I am doing right by my community because I am contributing to helping future and current students as well as my university.

What has surprised you as a student ambassador?

I am amazed that my university is engaged with their alumni and remains in touch, even after graduation. I think it is awesome that people are involved with their community and care so immensely.

Why is alumni support important for the advancement of the University?

It is important to keep our community involved. It is not only important to keep our alumni engaged with the University, but impacts the current students of UL Lafayette by showing them how them that UL Lafayette alumni care about the University. Alumni gifts impact and help improve many aspects of the University, from funding scholarships to improving the quality of our degrees.

Why should alumni and friends answer their phones when they receive a call or text from UL Lafayette?

I think It is important to stay informed and involved during the year! Many events & updates happen throughout a semester that alumni will not want to miss. Also, it is an amazing opportunity to contribute to helping future and current students of UL Lafayette.

How do you think your conversations with alumni and friends will change your outlook on your own college experience?

I am excited to listen to what the alumni and current students have to say. I know that their advice can change my entire perspective on college. I feel as if having people who can relate to my college experience can help to ease some of my worries.
